One would imagine that making it all happen is an easy task. It has been two weeks since my last post. During this time I have done some changes to the backbones of the project. I had to set the information distribution channels… I did some more filming too.
When I’ve started, my first choice for the site engine was Joomla. I’ve used it on couple of other occasions on commercial projects. What I like about it is the structure of the CSS and really good code quality. One think that wasn’t my concern till now was the interactivity of the site. It turned out that Joomla is very good in one way communication. Obwiously there are commercial plugins for blogging and commenting systems but at the stage I’m at – I need something more “out of the box”. Therefore I switched to WordPress. I may revisit this decision some time in the future.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a type of a person that just takes out of the packaging. I do enjoy tweaking the bolts and engineering things from scratch, but to get this whole project started some “battery included” type of solutions are required.
For e-mail and office apps who else to go to than the Google? The open interface for Calendar and spam filtering – that’s what I need.
Creating the list of project’s megaphones turned out to be tricky. It’s one of those things that is always alive and newer finished. Yesterday it was MySpace, today it’s Facebook, God only knows what it’s going to be tomorrow. For the most up to date list of channels please visit the Support the project page. I will be connecting to the other walled gardens but only on advertising board basis. Don’t expect me to start publishing just to one platform. My domain – my freedom, my choice, my responsibility, my glory.
There is plenty that still needs to be done for the look an feel of the site. Oooo… plenty. I really want it to have this elegant appeal. I know few good graphic designers. I can already hear the font types discussions and about the superiority of one shade over the other shade of the same color
Slogan for today: “Perfect is the enemy of good” :/
